Kids and families can explore the art and artists in the Bechtler collection through special hands-on art activities and family-focused museum tours during Family Day Saturday, October 12 from noon to 3:30 p.m. Drop in anytime during the afternoon.
This month, the Bechtler has partnered with Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, a non-profit that mobilize resources, forge partnerships and support families to improve early childhood education. One of their programs, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, ensures children are adequately prepared for kindergarten by providing books, free of charge, to children living in Mecklenburg County until their 5th birthday.
Guests who attend this month's Family Day are welcome and encouraged to enroll in the Dolly Parton Imagination Effort. Once enrolled, children receive one age-appropriate book in the mail each month until their 5th birthday.
A complimentary guided tour of the galleries will be availabe at 1 p.m., which meet in the Bechtler lobby.
