Jazz at the Bechtler | Fan Favorites

Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
Friday, March 3 at 6 PM and 8:15 PM

Now in its eleventh year, Jazz at the Bechtler has put the spotlight on mid-century jazz while showcasing local, regional, and top-ranked national musicians. The Ziad Jazz Quartet dedicates this month’s concert to the fans by performing a list of fan favorites over the years.

A special treat for attendees of the 6 PM concert will be the addition of world-renowned sculpture artist Peter Rubino as he performs a live “extreme sculpting” demonstration of one of the seminal figures of mid-century jazz during the band’s performance. His large-scale works include "Mother of All Life," a 10-foot-tall monument that graces the Boyko Research Center in Israel, and "Angel," a 35-foot-tall figure created for the Walt Disney Company. Rubino teaches workshops in the U.S. and Italy and has sculpted busts of President Barack Obama, baseball legend Lou Gehrig and actor David Canary, among other famous faces.

Concerts are performed at 6 and 8:15 PM. Each concert is 75 minutes with no intermission. Doors open at 5:30 PM for the 6 PM concert and 7:45 PM for the 8:15 PM concert. Enjoy light bites and a cash bar.
